Throughout
her lifetime, the importance of religion was very
strong.
Brought up in an area that was predominantly Catholic,
Berta and her family were deeply religious.
Even in the metropolis of Munich, she shied away from
living in accommodations frequented by most students
and lived instead in a boarding house run by order
of the church.
In Munich, Berta Hummel had met two Franciscan nuns
from Sießen in Württemberg.
